Panama In Pictures

Panama In Pictures.           As we wind up our time on the Isthmus I'll be publishing lots of pictures from the last three years.

3 Days and 11 dives in the Gulf of Chiriqui.

The Gulf of Chiriquí is part of Panama and encompasses the Coiba National Park and the Golfo de Chiriquí National Park. There are dozens of islands in this Gulf. Along with the islands of Coiba National Park, there is also Islas Secas, Islas Ladrones, Isla Parida, Isla Boca Brava, Isla Palenque and Isla Montuosa.

The Gulf of Chiriquí  includes  the famous Hannibal Bank, a reef with 45 meters (150 feet) of water over it, 16 nautical miles away from the next landmass.

The Gulf of Chiriqui and Coiba is one of the most dynamic marine environment in the world. There are dozens species of sharks and hundreds species of fish in these waters.

Jaqué Panama...You have to Visit...

Jaqué is located on the Pacific coast of Panama in the province of Darien. It is a tiny fsihing village with a very unique flair. The boarder of Colombia is located in the east, only about 50 km away. Despite the remoteness and small size Jaqué is very lively and charming. Due to the proximity to Colombia the cultural and ethnical mix among the residents is very colorful and remarkable. The inhabitants live mainly from fishing and, more recently, from tourism as the Darien becomes more accessible. If you get a chance while in Panama this a must see area.

The Mercado de Mariscos

A trip to the Fish Market (Mercado de Mariscos)  in Panama City  is a must if  you are visiting the city. We stocked up on fresh shrimp, lobster, flounder and tuna on this day.

There is an excellent resaurant right above the market. You can actually buy whatever you want in the market and take it upstairs to the restauant, where they will prepare it any way you like.

Location: Avenida Balboa & Calle Eloy alfaro

A week of exploring, fishing, surfing and good friends...
